Free Printable Bible Tabs Pdf – Bible tabs (also called Bible book tabs or index tabs) are small labeled markers that stick to the outer edge of Bible pages. They make it easy to flip straight to Genesis, Psalms, Romans, or any other book without hunting through the table of contents.
For many people in the United States who use a standard Protestant Bible with 66 books, free printable Bible tabs PDF files offer a simple, low-cost way to organize a study Bible, journaling Bible, or everyday reading Bible. You print the PDF, cut out the tabs, fold them, and attach them with glue, tape, or sticker paper.
What Free Printable Bible Tabs Offer?
Most free printable sets include one tab for each of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. Designs range from simple solid colors and clean fonts to watercolor, floral, or pastel styles. Some versions also include a few blank tabs for custom notes or favorite passages.
These printables work especially well for:
- New Bible readers who are still learning the order of the books
- Students and small-group leaders who need quick reference during discussion
- Bible journalers who want a personal, decorative touch
How to Make and Apply Free Printable Bible Tabs?
The process is straightforward and requires only basic supplies most households already have.
- Download a free printable Bible tabs PDF.
- Print on regular paper, cardstock, or adhesive label paper (thinner paper or label stock helps keep the Bible from becoming too bulky).
- Cut out each tab carefully.
- Fold the tab in half along the center line.
- Position the tab on the outer edge of the first page of the corresponding book so the label sticks out slightly.
- Secure it with glue stick, double-sided tape, washi tape, or by using pre-adhesive paper.
Many people space the tabs evenly or slightly overlap them so every label remains readable when the Bible is closed. Reinforcing the page edge with a small piece of clear tape before attaching the tab can help prevent tearing over time.

Practical Tips for Best Results
- Prefer label paper or thin cardstock over heavy cardstock so the closed Bible does not become overly thick.
- Use acid-free glue or tape to protect the pages long-term.
- Color-code by section (Law, History, Poetry, Prophets, Gospels, Epistles) if that helps your study style.
- Test one or two tabs first to confirm placement and adhesion before doing the entire set.
- Store unused printed sheets flat in a folder so the ink does not smudge.
